If you're pushing towards 2,000 Gallery tokens in FC 27, another pack isn't always the answer. Sometimes the useful move is sitting in your club already. A first-owner card, a nearly completed collection, an objective you forgot about. That's where I'd start before spending FC 27 Coins on SBC ingredients. Pick one collection, check what actually improves its score, and work towards that. Otherwise, you're collecting random cards and hoping the numbers sort themselves out.
Give Your First-Owner Cards a Job
First-owner status matters, but don't confuse owning a player with packing or earning that player yourself. Buying a card from the market doesn't turn it into a first-owner item. Market purchases can still supply SBC ingredients, though. That's the distinction worth remembering. If your Gallery screen shows a 500% boost for reaching 20 first-owner players from one club, check how close you are before starting another collection. Nineteen useful cards and one missing slot deserve attention before a completely fresh project.
I'd check objective players first, then affordable player SBCs, then pack rewards. Not because every objective card is brilliant. Because it's easy to overlook something you've already earned. With SBCs, count the cards you're giving up as well as the coins you're spending. An untradeable squad still has value when those players could complete another challenge. Rerolls need the same treatment. Feed them spare items with no better use, not cards holding your current Gallery score together. A new arrival should improve something specific, not just look interesting.
The Collection Habit Worth Keeping
The Meta: Stack first-owner players around one club collection.
The Snag: Random rerolls swallow cards without filling your missing slots.
The Fix: Check collection gaps before committing another squad.
Reality check: We've all opened another pack for one missing player and ended up reorganising duplicates for twenty minutes.
Choose the Next Move by Its Cost
These are planning checks, not promised token returns. Your collection decides which route makes sense. Before doing anything, compare the missing requirement with what you'd surrender. A cheap-looking SBC isn't cheap if it removes players you'll need again tomorrow.| Route | Main cost | Check first | | Objective players | Playing time | Collection fit | | Player SBCs | Coins and squad items | First-owner value | | Pack rewards | Match time | Useful additions | | Gold rerolls | Spare gold cards | Alternative uses | Keep that comparison simple. If two routes help the same collection, favour the one that leaves more useful cards in your club.
When the Suggested Squad Looks Wrong
A lot of players wonder whether they should accept the suggested Gallery squad when they've just earned a higher-rated first-owner card. Surely the game would pick the strongest option automatically, right? I'd still check it myself, especially near a grade threshold.
Compare the displayed score before confirming. Try your new card manually, check the collection bonus, and keep whichever combination actually scores better.
Leave Room for the Next Useful Card
Don't empty your club for a token target just because you're close. Play the modes you can realistically finish, collect rewards, and give each new card a quick check before submitting it elsewhere. Rivals, Champions, Squad Battles and objectives can fit around different schedules; forcing everything into one weekend gets tiring fast. Keep some EA FC Coins available for SBC ingredients when a genuinely useful player appears. Watch special versions too, but judge their displayed Gallery contribution rather than their reputation. Before regrading, compare your available players once more. Boring? A bit. Better than spending your evening fixing an avoidable mistake.
